OVERALL REFLECTION
I've been learning about different aspects of science like life, energy, Earth, and how scientists do their thing. The following courses and assignments helped me accomplish the 7th-grade Florida science standards.
Life Science for 7th Graders (LSCI 7)
In "Life Science for 7th Graders," we learned about living things. The "Ecosystem Exploration" assignment was like an adventure. I went to a forest and saw all kinds of plants and animals. It showed me that there are many different living things in the world, and they work together like a team. For example, trees provide homes for birds, and birds eat bugs that might harm the trees. It's like a circle of life!
The "Genetics and Traits Investigation" made me a detective. I studied eye color in my family and made a family tree. I found out that traits, like eye color, are passed down from our parents. It's like we inherit them. This assignment showed me that our traits make us unique.
Both assignments also taught me that everything in nature is connected. In the "Ecosystem Exploration," I saw how plants, animals, and insects depend on each other. In the "Genetics and Traits Investigation," I saw how our traits connect us to our family history. It's like we're all part of a big puzzle of life.
Physical Science for 7th Graders (PHYSCI 7)
In "Physical Science for 7th Graders," we studied energy. The "Energy Transformations in Everyday Life" assignment was cool. I picked a flashlight and learned how it turns electrical energy into light. It showed me that energy can change from one form to another.
The "Energy Efficiency Challenge" was like a mission to save energy. I audited energy use at school and suggested ways to use less. It made me see how small changes can save energy and help the environment. It's like being an energy superhero!
Earth and Space Science for 7th Graders (ESS 7)
In "Earth and Space Science for 7th Graders," we explored Earth. The "Geological Timeline Project" was like a time-travel project. I made a timeline of Earth's history, like when continents formed and life began. It made me realize Earth has changed a lot over time.
The "Weather and Climate Investigation" was fun too. I became a weather scientist for a week, collecting data on temperature and stuff. I saw how Earth's structures affect the weather. It's like Earth's features are connected to what happens in the sky.
Nature of Science for 7th Graders (NSCI 7)
In "Nature of Science for 7th Graders," we learned how scientists work. The "Scientific Method in Action" assignment was like being a science detective. I asked questions, made guesses (hypotheses), and did experiments to find answers.
The "Scientific Theories and Models Presentation" showed me that science is always changing. I talked about the theory of evolution, how it was developed, and how it's accepted now. It's like science is like a big puzzle where we keep adding new pieces.
So, these courses helped me understand science better. I learned about living things, energy, Earth, and how scientists do their thing. It's like exploring a big world of knowledge, and I'm excited to learn more!
