The "Ancient Civilization Presentation" was a transformative experience. It directly tackled Learning Outcome 1, which is to understand the foundation of ancient civilizations and their impact on modern society. My research skills were sharpened, aligning with Learning Outcome 2 that aims to foster analytical research abilities. After more than a week of intense research and presentation preparation, I felt a significant boost in my public speaking and presentation skills, addressing Learning Outcome 7 focused on effective communication.
Assignment 2: "Historical Perspective Essay" Reflection:
The "Historical Perspective Essay" was quite enlightening. It resonated with Learning Outcome 4, which emphasizes the need to approach history from multiple perspectives. Writing the essay required critical thinking and deep analytical skills, hence satisfying Learning Outcome 5, which aims for the development of critical thinking. The essay also required me to consult multiple sources, reinforcing Learning Outcome 9, which calls for the application of bibliographic research skills in academic writing. The assignment allowed me to delve deep into the complexities that shape historical narratives, offering an invaluable lesson in empathy and understanding.
Assignment 3: "Modern Global Issues Debate" Reflection:
The "Modern Global Issues Debate" was nothing short of invigorating. It related directly to Learning Outcome 3, which aims to link historical knowledge with contemporary issues. This debate not only honed my public speaking skills but also allowed me to practice listening critically to others' viewpoints, fulfilling Learning Outcome 6 on active listening and Learning Outcome 8, which focuses on engaged civic participation. The preparation for the debate improved my research skills and made me delve into current events, helping me see the modern world through a historical lens, reinforcing Learning Outcome 10 related to lifelong learning.
